Abit of a late submission with this album, but seeing as the grammy nominations have dropped I would like to speak on it. Firstly Addison getting nominated for Best New Artist is fully deserved. I feel like this year we haven't had much traction in terms of music and there have only been a select few that truly took the year. Addison being one of them. AND THIS ALBUM is my album of the year.
For a debut album this is a very solid project. The theme is kept throughout a kind of carefree girl not binded by society but the things that excite her i.e : money, new york, summer time, music. And it really is relatable to a lot of us young girls in this day and age as we transport ourselves into a bubble with this album. THE SOUNDS OH MY DAYS. Like as soon as I heard "headphones on" I just knew this album was going to transcend musically and it did.
I missed the opportunity to see her live as I had a clashing commitment and I was so distraught but I hope I get to see her in the coming years. She has a lot of festival performances booked and with time she will become the next big pop star I can feel it.
My favourite track from this album has to be......... drumroll pleaaaaase..... money is everything. Its so short but so sweet (hahahahahah sabrina) like with such a catchy chorus it gets stuck in your head immediately. AND THE INTRO IS SO CAPTIVATING. I LOOOOOVE music that experiments with ways to pull you in and this was that. Wish I got my hands on an addison dollar for real.
Addison Rae is like one of the few new artists I am super excited to see progress and build her career. Her future is looking so bright and I cant wait for new music (I can I would love for her to take her time and let this album settle as what it is which is a masterpiece)
Now the question you probably have right now is who do you think should win Best New Artist at the grammys. And as for someone with such broad taste that I listen to almost everyone on that list. I would have to say: Addison Rae, Olivia Dean or The Marias.
Anyways, Addison I love you please don't go bald. Next album should definitely be longer.
