Sitting on a coach writing this but what can I say, Larois best album hands down. Sat with this project for a few weeks now because every song really has been that impactful. This album coming with the speculation of laroi and tates relationship. There are the obvious faves circling tik tok such as: private, a cold play and rather be (everyone working on that song being aussie) but im gonna discuss some of my faves and why I think this album is a true pivotal moment in larois career.
Starting off strong with “ME + YOU” the instrumental just hooks you instantly and the flow in this song particularly feels so natural. Its almost as if he is telling us a story which i believe is the key factor to a good song. The chorus being 3 words has no negative effects as the repetition kind of makes you understand how he is feeling in the moment. This song is too short tho and I wish he pulled a taylor swift and made it 10 minutes because every tike it ends i always replay it. Yeah this is probably my favourite song off this album
“BACK WHEN YOU WERE MINE” another absolute banger the LAST TRACK of the album. Usually I feel as tho the average person doesn't get that far into an album to get to the last track due to our short ass attention spans (thank you tik tok) WHICH IS WHY controversially, I am an advocate for shuffle play on albums on first listen. I KNOW I KNOW but if i never shuffled I would have never discovered this song. Anyways the song. I can clearly hear the justin bieber/ mj influence in this song and dats probably why I love it so much but he really makes it his own. I mean throughout the album he kinda takes a different direction with his singing which i freaking hv the itch for. Yeah he makes the mj noises and I just love a chill emotion filled song you can bop ur head to. Again the repetition for chorus we see throughout the album he really makes it work. Usually i'm against it but tbh he has this kind of yearning in his voice that makes it work. Like i feel like i'm in pain and missing my bae (lowkey)
“THANK GOD” the last track im gonna talk about. I love the gradual intensity of the song. Unno starts off soft and gets intense with emotion. Emption emotion emotion the main takeaway from this album like I can tell he put a lot of heart into it. Intensity achieved through the instrumentals and hoe he changes his singing style. Like ughhhhh mega yearn
For me listening to this came at the right time. Maybe I love it so much because of the fact I was going through a similar situation. Unno us lesbians are yearners. But fr I been a fan of laroi for so many years and watching his music style develop into this has made me so happy this is hands down his best album to date and I hope it gets its flowers truly truly truly. GIVE IT A LISTEN IF YOU HVENT (this is free promo)
